    Sarah combines over 20 years of specialized experience with a passion for representing railroads and the transportation industry. Her expertise spans railroad litigation and advisory services. Sarah’s litigation experience includes defending Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims, whistle-blower suits under the Federal Railway Safety Act (FRSA), grade-crossing matters, and labor disputes.

    Sarah is at home in the courtroom, with a proven track record of securing defense verdicts in state and federal courts, including complex admitted-liability cases. She complements her litigation skills with hands-on knowledge of railroad operations, having spent time in the field to understand her clients’ processes and challenges. This practical insight enhances her ability to deliver effective legal strategies.

    In addition to litigation, Sarah provides advisory services for short line railroads, assisting with HR matters, and right-of-way disputes. She also offers flexible legal solutions, such as flat fee arrangements, and acts as local counsel for railroad and non-railroad clients alike.

    Paul brings extensive experience, deep knowledge, and a creative approach to his legal practice, delivering results-driven solutions to clients in complex matters. As a seasoned attorney, Paul has served as lead counsel on hundreds of cases across state and federal courts. His areas of expertise include commercial litigation, product liability, constitutional law, construction disputes, and business advisory services.

    Paul is also highly accomplished in appellate advocacy, having handled more than 70 appeals at the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, Seventh Circuit, and even the United States Supreme Court. He is adept at managing litigation across multiple jurisdictions, guiding clients through high-stakes class actions, and serving as local counsel in intricate matters. His skill in technical depositions and expert witness management—such as deposing industry-leading academics—sets him apart in trial preparation and courtroom strategy. 

    Paul’s commitment to understanding his clients’ needs ensures he provides tailored advice to mitigate risk, resolve disputes, and maximize value. Outside of work, Paul enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with his family in Zionsville, Indiana.

    Erik empowers his business law clients to maximize their companies’ value, meet strategic goals, and minimize risk. With over 20 years of experience, Erik delivers timely and effective service by combining an in-depth understanding of business and economics with a genuine passion for law.

    Erik’s practice includes business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, and business-related litigation. He offers advice on day-to-day contracts, entity formation, and employment matters, among other business law services. His experience representing buyers and sellers of businesses has included oversight and negotiation of multi-million-dollar deals in diverse industries, ranging from SaaS companies to professional services companies to manufacturing firms. 

    Outside the office, Erik is a husband, father, music enthusiast, avid reader, and aspiring fly fisherman.

  • RUSSELL HOLLIS

    Russell Hollis is a dedicated and results-driven attorney with extensive experience in litigation, public policy, and governmental affairs. As a Senior Associate at SLS Group, LLC, Russell leverages his background as a trial attorney, expertise in legal research, and deep policy experience to provide strategic counsel to clients facing complex legal challenges. At SLS Group, Russell leverages this expertise to advocate for clients with clarity and precision, ensuring their legal positions are presented compellingly in both negotiations and the courtroom.

    Prior to joining SLS Group, Russell served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, where he gained significant trial experience, including first- and second-chairing felony and misdemeanor cases. He has successfully handled jury selection, direct and cross-examinations, and closing arguments. Additionally, he has argued critical pre-trial motions, conducted over 100 depositions, and negotiated thousands of plea agreements in cases ranging from misdemeanor offenses to serious violent felonies.

    Prior to serving as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Russell was a key member of the executive leadership team in the Marion County Clerk’s Office, where he spent eight years as Director of Policy and Communications. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in election communications strategy, policy, and compliance, helping to ensure the office adhered to state and federal regulations. His eight years of experience in legal and policy communications provided him with a unique ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear, accessible messages for the public. This skill translated seamlessly into his work as a prosecutor, where he effectively communicated legal arguments to jurors, making complex evidence and legal standards understandable and persuasive.

    As a law student, Russell sought experiences that would shape him into a well-rounded attorney. His externships with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, provided him with valuable insight into judicial expectations and decision-making processes. Additionally, his clerkship with the Indiana Solicitor General offered him invaluable experience in constitutional and appellate matters, further refining his ability to analyze and advocate complex legal issues. A graduate of Indiana University McKinney School of Law, Russell is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Marion County Bar Association, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He is deeply engaged in civic and political initiatives, having volunteered in voter protection efforts on the local and national levels, and served as a precinct committeeperson.
