Erik Johnson

FOUNDING PARTNER, CORPORATE LAW

Erik combines practical business knowledge with extensive legal expertise to provide comprehensive support for his clients. His services include business contracts, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, and business-related litigation. Erik draws his foundation for those services from an economics degree from DePaul University (magna cum laude, 2001) and a law degree from the University of Chicago (cum laude, 2004), where Erik was named a John M. Olin Fellow of Law and Economics.

Extensive Experience

Erik guides clients through a wide range of business law matters, including entity strategy and formation, crafting of customized operating and buy/sell agreements, day-to-day contractual advice, and management of employment risks. He has experience in buying and selling businesses (mergers and acquisitions), and has overseen and negotiated multi-million-dollar transactions for his clients across a wide range of industries. Erik is equally skilled in litigation, and regularly represents his clients in disputes involving fraud, contract breaches, construction matters, and employment claims.

Erik understands that every business client has unique goals and risk tolerances. Instead of substituting his own judgment for that of his clients, Erik listens to their needs and educates them on the potential risks and benefits involved. Erik’s aspiration is that each client feels empowered to maximize their own value based on his detailed and transparent legal advice.

Beyond the law

Outside of his practice, Erik enjoys spending time with his family, listening to and playing music, reading, playing cards, and exploring new hobbies like fly fishing.
